Buckingham County Public Schools' Child Nutrition Services is operated under the federally funded School Nutrition Program. Nutrition is an important part of the education process.  Studies show that well-nourished students are better prepared to learn. The School Nutrition Program strives to provide nutritious meals to our students, and we are committed to making nutritious meals available to every child in Buckingham County Public Schools.  We work to ensure that our students receive courteous service and attractive, well-balanced meals every day.

Buckingham High and Buckingham Middle

I want to make you aware of some changes to the Breakfast & Lunch programs for the 2017-18 school year. The Middle and High School students will be charged $0.75 ($0.30 for reduced-price) for a breakfast and $2.35 full-price ($0.40 reduced-price) for a lunch. Parents are welcome to come and eat with their child at any time. The cost of an adult lunch is $3.20.

Please note that this is a change from last year. We are no longer eligible for the free breakfast program that we were fortunate to receive last year.

Buckingham County PreSchool, Buckingham Primary,

and Buckingham Elementary

We are pleased to inform you that Buckingham County PreSchool, Buckingham Primary, and Buckingham Elementary will be implementing a new option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for 2017-2018 School Year.

What does this mean for you and your children attending the school(s) identified above?

Great news for you and your students!  All enrolled students of Buckingham County PreSchool, Buckingham Primary, and Buckingham Elementary are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2017-2018 school year.  No further action is required of you.  Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application.

If your child(ren) transfer(s) from a CEP to a non-CEP school within Buckingham County Public Schools and the student is not eligible for free meals by direct certification, a household income application for free and reduced price meal benefits must be completed and submitted to the school within 10 days of enrollment in the new school.  An eligibility determination will be made and the parent will be notified.
