Child Nutrition Services
Buckingham County Public Schools' Child Nutrition Services is operated under the federally funded School Nutrition Program. Nutrition is an essential part of the education process. Studies show that well-nourished students are better prepared to learn. The School Nutrition Program strives to provide nutritious meals to our students, and we are committed to making nutritious meals available to every child in Buckingham County Public Schools. We work to ensure that our students receive courteous service and attractive, well-balanced meals every day.
All Buckingham County Schools
Buckingham County Public Schools implemented the option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) in the 2021-22 School Year. This CEP will last 4 years. As a result, all enrolled students of Buckingham County Public Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each day of the 2022-2023 school year.
What does this mean for you and your children?
Great news for you and your students! Partnership with My School Bucks
Your student will still have the opportunity to purchase “ala carte items” and “extras" if he/she desires. Your My School Bucks account can be used for this purpose. The BCPS Nutrition Services Program has partnered with MySchoolBucks.com to allow parents to check balances and add money directly to their student's snack account. To use this service, parents must register online at MySchoolBucks.com.
We look forward to working with your students. If you have questions or need information, please contact us at 434-969-4455.
Latest P-EBT Information
This is an update regarding questions we have received about summer Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits.
The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) has recently made us aware that many households did not receive summer P-EBT benefits due to a card processing error. We have been informed that affected households will be issued a new P-EBT card and that all cards should be received no later than September 30.
If you recently received a P-EBT card that is not working, a replacement card is already on the way. You do not need to take any action to report your invalid card. VDSS has identified the households affected by this error. Please do not contact the P-EBT call center to order another card, as this may further delay the processing of your benefits.
We understand this delay has been frustrating and want to assure you that we are in communication with VDSS to ensure the issue is fixed as quickly as possible. Schools are not able to provide answers to your P-EBT questions. Please visit PEBTVA.com for the latest information and guidance concerning P-EBT.
