BCHS FFA Chapter Visits PreSchool For Agriculture Literacy Week

Agriculture Literacy Week was  March 6th - 10th.  Members of the Buckingham Senior FFA Chapter celebrated by visiting the Buckingham PreSchool on March 9th.  The members read the preschool students “Good Night Farm” by Eugenie Doyle.  After reading to approximately 130 students, the high school students helped the preschool students with an activity about agricultural products.  Agriculture Literacy Week is a project that is a part of Agriculture In The Classroom, a program through Farm Bureau. Agriculture In The Classroom’s mission is to “to educate Virginia’s children about the importance of agriculture”. With only 1.7% of America’s population living on a farm, many children do not understand how food, clothing, and other agricultural products are produced.  Not only is Agriculture Literacy Week a great way to get children to learn about agriculture, it is also a great way for FFA members to share their passion for the agriculture industry.
