I’m Chasity Steger, and it’s truly an honor to introduce myself as the new Dean of Students at the Carter G. Woodson Education Complex.
This division and this community mean the world to me. I’m a proud third-generation graduate of Buckingham County Schools, and I’ve spent my entire life rooted in this place, from walking the halls as a student to now walking them as an educator and leader. After earning my degree in Elementary Education from Longwood University in 2014, I returned home. Since then, I’ve taught both 3rd and 4th grade, and for the past few years, I’ve served as a Math Interventionist, all right here at BES.
Over the years, I’ve continued to grow as an educator, completing my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2023 and my Educational Leadership endorsement in 2025. But even as I’ve pursued new goals, my heart has never left Buckingham. My husband and our children also graduated from here.
Outside of school, I’m a wife and a proud stepmom to three amazing kids. I love spending time with my family (including my four dogs and one cat), reading, and getting lost in music, which helps to keep me grounded and inspired.
This new role is more than a job to me; it’s a calling. I care deeply about our students, our staff, and our families, and I’m committed to helping every child feel seen, supported, and encouraged to succeed. I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and working together to make this year one of growth, joy, and connection. It brings me so much joy to now serve the very community that raised me and continues to raise my family.
Thank you for welcoming me into this new chapter. I can’t wait to get started!

Celebrating Our Principals: May 1st ♥️
Principals are among the hardest-working individuals in education—and often the most underappreciated. Yet without their steady leadership, schools simply wouldn’t function. They set the academic tone, foster a positive school culture, and create environments where both students and staff can thrive.
Through their vision, dedication, and relentless determination, they make countless decisions each day that impact learning, safety, morale, and growth. Their influence stretches far beyond the office door; they are instructional leaders, problem-solvers, mentors, and the heart of their school communities.
We are especially grateful for the leadership of Mrs. Sarah Walker, Mrs. Denise Bryant, Dr. Courtney Browning, Dr. Jeff Garrett, and Mr. Damon Talley. Each of them brings a unique strength to our division, united by a shared commitment to student success and staff support. Their work does not go unnoticed, and their impact is deeply felt. Please join us in thanking them—not just this week, but every week—for all they do. GO KNIGHTS!

Spring Music Concert
