Buckingham County Public Schools is pleased to announce that Buckingham County Middle School has been awarded $42,203 through the Virginia Department of Education’s 2026–27 School Security Equipment Grant Program.
The grant funding will support continued enhancements to safety and security infrastructure at Buckingham County Middle School. These improvements are part of the division’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.
Buckingham County Public Schools takes a proactive and comprehensive approach to school safety. Through continued planning, assessment, collaboration with local and state public safety partners, and strategic investments in security technology and infrastructure, the division works to continually strengthen its overall preparedness.
“We are extremely grateful to the Virginia Department of Education for this investment in the safety of our students and staff,” said Dr. Cynthia Reasoner, Superintendent of Buckingham County Public Schools. “This grant allows us to continue strengthening our schools while supporting our larger commitment to providing a safe environment where teaching and learning can remain the primary focus.”
The grant award builds upon Buckingham County Public Schools’ ongoing efforts to evaluate existing safety measures, identify opportunities for improvement, and responsibly pursue state and other external funding opportunities that reduce the financial burden on local resources.
