Celebrate Virginia Farm to School Week, October 6–10, 2025.
October is National Farm to School Month, a time to celebrate nationwide connections between schools, early care and adult centers, and local farms! Virginians celebrate Virginia Farm to School Week during the first full week of October to kick off the month.
Farm to school enriches the connection communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools and early care settings. Agriculture is Virginia's largest private industry, and supporting local farms increases employment opportunities and community food security while providing the freshest food for all learners.
During Virginia Farm to School Week, the "Crunch Heard' Round the Commonwealth" will make some noise for Virginia farm to school programs on Thursday, October 9. Students, families, schools, farms, education centers, and community members can learn how to build upon farm-to-school programming in their communities by visiting the Virginia Department of Education, Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs Farm to School webpage.

Hello BCPS Families and Community members,
Please listen closely to the following information, as some changes have been made for the Knights' Armor Food Pantry, effective immediately.
First: The pantry will be closed on the 2nd Friday of EACH month.
Second change: Scheduled pick-ups MUST be made by 3:00 pm on the Thursday BEFORE the desired Friday pick-up. Appointments requested after that will be scheduled for next Friday's pick-up.
Thank you for your support as we work to help serve our students and community.

We are excited about what we believe will be another successful school year at Buckingham County High School. One of our major adjustments this year is the adoption of a new bell schedule, which includes a “flex” block known as Knight Time.
Knight Time was created to provide opportunities for:
Academic support and intervention
Clubs and activities
SEL (social-emotional learning) and advisory programming
Enrichment
Test make-ups
Group work or reteaching
Industry certification preparation
Project completion
Please note that Knight Time is part of the instructional day, and students are expected to be in school for the full duration of the day (8:10 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.), unless other arrangements are approved according to their course schedule. Attendance during this time is essential, and absences may affect final grades/graduation.
If you have any questions, please contact our main office. Thank you for your continued support.

I am pleased to announce the official opening of the Knights' Armor Food Pantry. While the pantry is housed at our High School location, it is open to all Buckingham County residents, regardless of age or student affiliation.
The pantry offers a wide selection of non-perishable food items, including:
Canned fruits and vegetables
Pasta, potatoes, rice, and beans
Breakfast cereals and oats
And more
Hours of Operation:
Fridays, 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
To schedule a pick-up time, please contact Ms. Richardson (school social worker) at (434) 969-6100 ext. 22112.
For emergency food needs, individuals may contact their student's school counselor or administrator to coordinate an emergency pick-up.
Please be on the lookout for a flyer coming home with your student for reference to the details above.

Buckingham High School Rise Up leadership team is learning the ins and outs of podcasting and just recorded their very first episode. This mission is all about building connections between students, families, and our community.
Stay tuned for the official release of Episode 1—you won’t want to miss it!
