🎉 Buckingham County Public Schools Convocation 2025 🎉 What an inspiring start to the new school year! Today, we gathered as a division to celebrate the incredible work ahead and to reaffirm our shared commitment to student success. Dr. Reasoner energized us with her message centered on the Four Pillars that will guide our year: Communication, Collaboration, Transparency, and Teamwork. Her words set the tone for a year rooted in connection and collective impact. We proudly introduced and recognized our new employees across the division — welcome to the BCPS family! 💛🖤 The morning brought energy and excitement with a lively round of “Let’s Make a Deal,” where teams showed their school spirit and raffle prizes added some extra fun to the day! We were honored to have our JROTC Color Guard present the flags and thrilled to welcome a special guest appearance from Sir Knights A Lot! This year, we are united under the theme: “Every Knight. Every Day. The Buckingham Way.” We are committed to excellence in all we do — together. Here’s to a fantastic 2025–2026 school year! #BCPSStrong #EveryKnightEveryDay #TheBuckinghamWay

A welcome message from Chasity Steger, Dean of Students, Carter G. Woodson Education Complex:

I’m Chasity Steger, and it’s truly an honor to introduce myself as the new Dean of Students at the Carter G. Woodson Education Complex.

This division and this community mean the world to me. I’m a proud third-generation graduate of Buckingham County Schools, and I’ve spent my entire life rooted in this place, from walking the halls as a student to now walking them as an educator and leader. After earning my degree in Elementary Education from Longwood University in 2014, I returned home. Since then, I’ve taught both 3rd and 4th grade, and for the past few years, I’ve served as a Math Interventionist, all right here at BES.

Over the years, I’ve continued to grow as an educator, completing my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2023 and my Educational Leadership endorsement in 2025. But even as I’ve pursued new goals, my heart has never left Buckingham. My husband and our children also graduated from here.

Outside of school, I’m a wife and a proud stepmom to three amazing kids. I love spending time with my family (including my four dogs and one cat), reading, and getting lost in music, which helps to keep me grounded and inspired.

This new role is more than a job to me; it’s a calling. I care deeply about our students, our staff, and our families, and I’m committed to helping every child feel seen, supported, and encouraged to succeed. I’m looking forward to building strong relationships and working together to make this year one of growth, joy, and connection. It brings me so much joy to now serve the very community that raised me and continues to raise my family.

Thank you for welcoming me into this new chapter. I can’t wait to get started!

A welcome message from Cristin Morris, Principal of Buckingham County Elementary School:

It is with immense joy and excitement that I reach out to you today as your new Principal of Buckingham County Elementary School. Having had the incredible privilege of serving as the Assistant Principal, I've already come to know so many of you, and I'm truly grateful for the trust and support you've shown me. I can't wait to continue our journey together in this new role.

My passion for public education runs deep, shaped by over two decades in our public school system. Throughout these years, my focus has always been on creating a welcoming and engaging environment where every single child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. My own educational path led me to earn a Master's in Educational Supervision and Leadership from Longwood University, as well as a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. These experiences have certainly given me a strong foundation, but it's the daily interactions and learning alongside our students and staff that truly inspire me.

On a personal note, Buckingham County isn't just where I work; it's truly home. I have two wonderful girls who are proud attendees of Buckingham County High School—one is a rising senior, and the other recently graduated. I'm so lucky to have a supportive husband who is a native of Buckingham County. As a dedicated wife and mother, I genuinely understand the hopes and dreams you hold for your children's education. I am dedicated to Buckingham County and ensuring Buckingham County Elementary School remains a place of excellence and incredible opportunities for all our students.

As we step into this exciting new chapter, my core belief remains crystal clear: student success is a team effort. I truly believe that the best educational outcomes happen when we all work together, building strong, collaborative partnerships. As we continue hand-in-hand, we'll always keep our school's beloved motto at the forefront: Believe, Empower, Succeed. This guiding principle, combined with our division-wide commitment to being U-Knighted, will absolutely strengthen everything we do. I'm so eager to keep collaborating with our amazing parents, our incredibly talented staff, the School Board, Central Office, and every single member of our community. Your insights, involvement, and unwavering support are absolutely vital as we strive to provide the very best learning experiences for our children.

Together, we'll continue to build on our strengths, embrace new ideas, and cultivate a nurturing and inspiring environment where every student feels valued, encouraged, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

I'm really looking forward to a successful year where we can U-Knight to champion the success of every student at Buckingham County Elementary School!
