What's going on at BCHS & BMS this week?!?

There will be no school on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We encourage our students and families to take time to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of service, equality, and justice.

Sarah was nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Casey Davis.

Our students delivered an outstanding performance at the recent SkillsUSA competitions, proudly representing BCHS with talent, professionalism, and creativity.
Omauria Dibble excelled in the Natural Hair Braiding competition, impressing judges with precision, creativity, and professionalism. Judges praised Omauria for demonstrating undeniable talent and for following all competition rules to a tee—an achievement that truly set her work apart.
Bri Corner and Jaylasha Miles also made a powerful impression in the Total Fantasy Look competition. Their artistic vision and flawless execution “knocked it out of the park,” especially when showcased on their model, Kylah Austin. The overall presentation reflected exceptional teamwork, skill, and attention to detail.
Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 20, at 5:30 PM, and we look forward to celebrating their hard work.

On January 10th, 2026, Daniel Flores traveled to the ACE Center at Virginia Randolph and competed in the SkillsUSA Virginia District 2 Welding contest. Daniel competed against 3 other contestants from ACE and Powhatan HS in building a weldment coupon. The contest required the students to read a blueprint, cut, fit, and build their projects using drawing/welding symbol interpretation techniques, as well as various hand/power tools and welding processes. Daniel represented Buckingham CTE and BCHS with great poise and integrity; he learned many things about himself and the trade during the event, and even received a job offer from two judges!
Winners will be announced at the SkillsUSA District 2 awards ceremony at the ACE Center at Heritage in Richmond next Tuesday, January 20th. Winners will move on to the SkillsUSA State Championships in Virginia Beach, March 9-11.
Congratulations, Daniel, on putting yourself out there, and best of luck!
