Today is World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛
Yesterday, our BCHS students came together to recognize and celebrate this important day, showing support, spreading awareness, and embracing what makes every individual unique.
World Down Syndrome Day is observed on March 21 (3/21) to represent the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which is what causes Down syndrome. It’s a day to celebrate inclusion, advocate for equal opportunities, and highlight the abilities and contributions of people with Down syndrome around the world.
Did you know:
• Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal condition
• It occurs in about 1 in every 700 births in the United States
• People with Down syndrome can lead fulfilling lives—attending school, working, building relationships, and contributing meaningfully to their communities
We are proud of our students for promoting kindness, understanding, and inclusion. 💙💛 #WorldDownSyndromeDay #InclusionMatters #BCHS
