Due to the chance of rain and cooler temperatures, our Color Run has been rescheduled to May 16th from 11 am - 3 pm. We truly want this event to be as amazing as it can be—and that means waiting for better weather!

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we believe this is the best option to make this event as successful as possible.

We are so excited to spend this time with our students, and this postponement gives us even more opportunity to sell tickets, spread the word, and invite friends and family to join in the fun. If you were hesitant to purchase tickets due to the weather or were unavailable on May 2nd, we would love for you to grab your tickets and join us on the 16th!

Please join us in welcoming Sharon Pettus to Buckingham County Public Schools!

Mrs. Denise Bryant, the current Primary School principal, will remain in her role through June 30, 2026. She will assist Mrs. Pettus during her transition. Mrs. Bryant will transfer to Coordinator of Instructional Support effective July 1, 2026.

Message from Mrs. Pettus: I am incredibly honored and excited to serve as the new Principal of Buckingham Primary School. With a background in elementary education and school leadership, I am deeply committed to fostering a positive, student-centered learning environment where every child can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Throughout my career, I have focused on supporting high-quality instruction, building strong relationships with students, staff, and families, and ensuring meaningful outcomes for all learners. As an educator, this work has always been more than a career—it is truly a calling. I believe that strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to student success are the foundation of a thriving school community. I am especially excited to join a dedicated staff and partner with our students, families, and the broader community to build on the great work already happening at Buckingham Primary. On a personal note, I am a proud wife and the mother of three grown boys—roles that have shaped my perspective, strengthened my commitment to children, and deepened my understanding of the importance of education and community. I look forward to this new chapter and to working together to ensure every child at Buckingham Primary feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.
