Dear BCPS Families and Community,
We want to make you aware of an ongoing investigation into recent social media posts that appear to threaten violence toward our schools. Law enforcement is investigating these posts and working to identify the source(s). These types of messages are obviously frightening and are designed to cause panic and disruption in our communities.
We take all potential threats seriously and ask for your help in handling situations like this. Here's what you should do if you see something concerning: Immediately notify law enforcement or school officials if you come across any concerning posts or messages. We thoroughly investigate all reports, and we encourage you to share anything alarming so that it can be addressed promptly. Report it, don’t repost. Sharing these posts on social media instead of reporting them to the proper authorities delays our ability to investigate and respond. Reposting causes unnecessary panic and disrupts our schools and community before we can determine the legitimacy of the threat. If the situation is determined to be a real threat, we will take swift action and inform you of the steps we are taking to keep everyone safe.
Please remember that law enforcement investigations are serious. Even if a threat is made as a joke, there can be significant consequences. Students have been suspended, expelled, and even prosecuted for threatening violence—whether or not they actually meant it.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to keep our schools and community safe.

Good afternoon BCPS families and community,
With the exception of indoor varsity football practice, all afterschool events for today have been cancelled.
